Remote village celebrates Voters Day
ITANAGAR, Jan 29: The remote village Nyokilanghi under Phassang circle of Kurung Kumey district celebrated the National Voters Day with much fanfare on January 25.
Earlier the Election Commission of India with the help of the state election machinery created a new polling station at Nyokilanghi village under 19th Nyapin Assembly constituency. In a release it said that many of villagers were being deprived from exercising adult franchise due to its inaccessibility from the nearest polling station.
Raso Yangda Memorial Sports gets underway at Seppa

SEPPA, Jan 29: The 6th Raso Yangda Memorial Sports Meet 2012 being organized by East Kameng Middle Zone Students Union (EKMZSU) got underway at Seppa in East Kameng on Saturday.
A massive participation was witnessed this year; with 42 boys’ and girls’ teams taking part in the events which include football, volleyball, marathon race and literary competition.
The sports meet is being organized in remembrance of founder president of EKMZSU late Raso Yangda with objectives to promote the potential of middle zone areas in particular and district as whole.
Kicking off the inaugural match of the memorial tourney, businessman Mama Natung called upon the students to excel in sports while upholding the spirit of the games.
He further suggested the union not to misuse its objectives while adding that they should avoid splurging money in students’ politics.
Parang Richo, Nyishi Elite Society West Kameng Unit secretary in charge, advised students to maintain discipline in every field. Highlighting the aims and objectives of sports meet, EKMZSU president Awa Natung appealed the participants to maintain fair play throughout the tournament. Government College Seppa Principal Robin Hissang also spoke on the occasion.
ANSU demands Govt intervention in AR recruitment issue
ITANAGAR, Jan 29: All Nyishi Students Students’ Union (ANSU) has demanded the state Govt and governor to intervene in the Assam Rifles (AR) recruitment issue wherein refugees like Chakma and Nepali citizens were recruited under ST quota reserved for Arunachalees.

Appointments of refugees that too under ST quota is unexpected and it has touched the sentiments of Arunachalee people, ANSU said. Moreover, such recruitments are made with total violation of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, 1873 and Chin Act, the union said while adding “we did never recognize Chakmas as citizens of India.”
It is worth mentioning that AR had recruited three Chakmas and one Nepali citizen against various posts like armour, clerk, radio operator etc which were exclusively reserved for tribal youths of Arunachal Pradesh.

Prime alleged accused Raghav Kr Pandey is a state level coordinator of Arunachal Siksha Vikash Samiti, which runs the DPVN while another accused Jay Prakhash Singh, who is presently in police net, is principal of DPVN, Katan in Upper Siang.
ANSU assures assistance to orphan students
ITANAGAR, Jan 29: On invitation from the Arunachal Orphans Welfare Association (AOWA), a team of All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) headed by its vice president Tagru Tame visited the Arunachal Orphans School at Polo Colony, Naharlagun recently. The school is being run by the AOWA.
While appreciating commendable service of the AOWA, ANSU vice president Tagru Tame called upon the students to be disciplined and honest in order to achieve their goal in life.
The ANSU leader assured to raise the problems being faced by the association before the state Govt for all round development of orphans school.
While responding to a memorandum submitted by the AOWA, Tame assured to provide all possible assistance immediately.
Earlier, AOWA president Achu Bagang highlighted the difficulties that the association is facing in running the school. However, he said, it would never give up its journey towards progress.
The ANSU team also gave away prizes to the winners of several events, organized by the AOWA on the occasion of 63 Republic Day.

NCP urges teachers to reconsider
ITANAGAR, Jan 29: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has urged the government to immediately release the enhanced salary of SSA teachers with arrears and regularization even as it appealed the All Arunachal Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Teachers Association to think twice before resorting to protest.
The teacher’s association has warned indefinite pen down strike from February 1 to press for its demands which include regularization of SSA teachers of 2003 batch and release of enhanced salary with arrears.
The Party said that it will adversely affect the academic career of the student if teachers’ protests while adding that Govt must ensure that the teaching community in the state is provided with all facilities and protected.

ITANAGAR, Jan 29: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki is reported to have
assured the Karko Ao Welfare Association (KAWA) to provide funds for construction of a Karko Dere cum museum at Basar in memory of Late Daying Ering, Late Tamo Riba and Late Todak Basar.
A delegation of the KAWA led by its president Eken Riba met the Chief Minister on Jan 25 and had sought funds for the construction of the museum.

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to highlight the problems of the poor students who have done their graduation and post graduation so that concern authorities look into it. These days even after toiling for years just to get the certificates, one has to go for extra professional degrees which are made mandatory for every interview.
For clerical jobs, candidates have to have one year course of computer training certificate while teachers need Bachelor of Education certificate. These courses are not cheap as it comes for Rs.12000 and Rs.1 lac respectively.
From where will the poor parents manage those extra degrees for their children after they had invested so much of their blood and sweat just to make their children get the graduation and post graduation certificates?

Consecutive two test series defeat abroad and eight consecutive Test losses overseas
have at last proved that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the worst captain in Indian cricket
history. Dhoni should immediately resign as captain. Else the selectors should remove
him from the highest pedestal. If Sourav could be barbarically sacked from captainship
immediately after the southpaw led India to Test series victory in Zimbabwe and scored
a brilliant century in the Bulawayo Test; there lies no reason why Dhoni should
be retained as skipper after such dreadful result. He was never a good wicketkeeper.
His batting skills have also presently deserted him. He should leave the international
arena and return to domestic cricket to hone up his skills. The Adelaide Test has
proved that Wriddhiman Saha is presently the best wicketkeeper of India who is also
a very good batsman as well. Thus he should be promptly included in Dhoni's place.
